Deer Park West Primary School provides an inclusive Physical Education and Health Program for all children as outlined in the Victorian Curriculum.
We aim to promote a balanced program that incorporates the development of fundamental motor skills, health and fitness, competition and fun. Our Physical Education specialist teacher provides specialist lessons to all grade levels each week for 1 hour and Year 5/6 students have an addition 2 hours per week of sport.
Deer Park West Primary School is very well equipped with a number of sporting areas for students to use. The school has the following facilities:

INTER-SCHOOL SPORTS
Students in Years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to participate in Interschool Sports Competition. In Term 1 and 2, students will play other schools in the Deer Park District in a number of different sports. Students are able to choose from the following summer and winter sports for Interschool Sports:

JUMP ROPE for HEART
Students from Foundation to Year 6 participate in the Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart program. Skipping is an excellent way for children to keep fit and healthy. Children learn a range of fun skipping skills and new tricks. We emphasise the importance of regular physical activity and the importance of healthy eating for a healthy lifestyle.
WHOLE SCHOOL EVENTS- ATHLETICS, CROSS-COUNTRY and SWIMMING
Students in Years 3-6 at Deer Park West Primary School participate in a Cross Country Event and Athletics Day each year at our school. A tabloid sports carnival is setup for Foundation to Year 2 students as part of our Athletics Day program.
