Deer Park West Primary School provides a Physical Education (PE) program for all children as outlined in the Victorian Curriculum.
We aim to promote and develop a balanced program that incorporates the aspects of fitness, skill development, competition and fun. Our Physical Education specialist teachers provide specialist lessons to all grades weekly.
The school facilities include an indoor gymnasium, a large multi-purpose oval, soccer field, running track and synthetic turf areas for netball, basketball, rounders and bat tennis as well as 3 adventure playground areas.
JUMP ROPE for HEART
Students from Foundation to Year 6 participate in the Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart program. Skipping is an excellent way for children to keep fit and healthy. Children learn a range of fun skipping skills and new tricks. We emphasise the importance of regular physical activity and the importance of healthy eating for a healthy lifestyle.
ATHLETICS & CROSS-COUNTRY
Students in Years 3-6 students at Deer Park West annually participate in Athletics and Cross Country events. A fun tabloid sports carnival for Years Foundation to Year 2 occurs annually as part of our Athletics Day program.
